Coinbase Prepares to List Ethereum Classic (ETC)

Much anticipated final testing is being made to support Ethereum Classic (ETC) on Coinbase.

Moreover, since the product started its support for Ethereum post the hard fork, there are no corresponding balances of Ethereum Classic for the customer base of Coinbase Consumer.

Coinbase hopes to finish the ETC tests by August 7.

Trading will be opened on Coinbase Markets within 24-48 hours, within which Coinbase Pro and Prime will be allowed to conduct trades. However, before the exchange allows trading to start, the inbound transfers will take place for a day or two to make sure that Coinbase Pro and Coinbase Prime, where ETC is going to be added, can provide enough liquidity.

Following their listing policy, ETC books will open in post-only for at least 10 minutes, with trading on Pro and Prime to be activated afterward once sufficient liquidity is attained.

Coinbase Consumer will be somewhat late to the party as platform policy dictates that assets can only be listed on Coinbase Consumer after being listed on Coinbase Pro and Prime.

Coinbase stated their plans to add ETC in early summer 2018 and then confirmed this information recently, making the coin spike despite the overall red market. Keep in mind that trading will not be enabled as soon as the cryptocurrency is listed.

The cryptocurrency market has been facing difficulties over the past 72 hours with the coin prices crashing after a week of bullish rise. Coinbase, however, did not give any specific date for the listing or timeline on the integration of Ethereum Classic.

"...because Coinbase just announced that they are likely to have trading [of ETC] added to their platform on August 7th or later".

The date should be considered as an estimate and not a finality.

"Looking forward to the Cardano addition too!"
