Canada shooting: Several dead in Fredericton, New Brunswick

Fredericton police say at least four people are dead after what they called a "shooting" in a suburban area of the city this morning.

The shooting took place in Fredericton, the capital of New Brunswick.

Video from the scene broadcast by Canadian network CBC showed emergency vehicles on a residential road, identified by the police as Brookside Drive.

They're also asking people to refrain from calling the police station because of the high volume of calls. Later, police confirmed four people had been killed in the incident.

A local TV reporter said he heard four gunshots just after 11:00 GMT.


The incident is ongoing with the gunman is still on the run.

There was no immediate information on the number of suspects or any suspected motive.

"Police continue to on scene of a shooting on Brookside Drive".
