Marco Silva's Everton looked to be heading into the 2018-19 season having only strengthened with Richarlison and Lucas Digne, but on Thursday they found agreements with Barcelona for Yerry Mina and Andre Gomes, while Brazil global Bernard signed on a free transfer following his Shakhtar Donetsk departure.

Manchester United had expected to sign Mina after submitting a fresh £35million bid for the Colombia defender earlier this week.

Portugal worldwide Gomes endured even greater struggles at LaLiga's champions and has found an escape route in the shape of a season-long loan at Goodison Park, which will cost the Toffees €2.25million. The Club reserves the right to buy back the player.

The Toffees have also signed Brazilian winger Bernard on a permanent deal.

'It is important that the club want to fight for something, ' Mina told evertontv.

However, Allardyce feels that Everton still have far too many wide players to cope with.

"I have spoken a lot to the coach and I know his passion for Everton and determination to be successful".

With a little less than two hours left for Premier League sides to do deals, Everton are cutting it close but they remain confident of taking both deals over the line in time. When I found out about this opportunity and what the manager wanted out of me I was happy. "I believe I will be able to show my best as a player here".

New Everton defender Yerry Mina says that he is looking forward to the challenge of competing in the Premier League.
