  • Mariners’ Jean Segura sent to All-Star Game with Final Vote win

Jesus Aguilar of the Milwaukee Brewers (left) and Jean Segura of the Seattle Mariners won the MLB All-Star Game Final Vote.

The Red Sox launched a #VoteBenny campaign, spearheaded by 2015 All-Star and Benintendi's teammate Brock Holt.

Segura snagged the last American League spot with 13.6 million votes.

Benintendi remains eligible for the team, as an injury replacement.

The first baseman is tied with the Rockies' Nolan Arenado for the most home runs in the NL with 23. After three continuous days of voting, baseball fans have decided that Milwaukee Brewers first baseman Jesús Aguilar and Seattle Mariners shortstop are worthy of making the trip to Washington DC.

The Red Sox will be sending five players to Washington, D.C., for the All-Star Game: Mookie Betts, J.D. Martinez, Chris Sale, Craig Kimbrel and Mitch Moreland.

For the eight players not selected in the Final Vote, the All-Star dream is not officially over. His total was the second-highest in the history of the All-Star Final Vote, trailing only Justin Turner's 20.8 million votes past year.

Segura entered Wednesday's slate with a slash line of.329/.356/.467 (130 OPS+) with 24 doubles and 14 stolen bases.

Andrew Benintendi will get some time off during the All-Star break next week.

As for Segura, the Mariners infielder is in the midst of a career year at the plate. FOX Deportes will provide Spanish language coverage in the United States, while ESPN Radio and ESPN Radio Deportes will provide exclusive national radio coverage of the All-Star Game.
