Woman accidentally steals vehicle for two weeks

  • The car that the woman originally rented was a Nissan Sentra sedan

Returning to the parking lot, she instead got into a black Infiniti QX50 crossover-SUV parked nearby, which she mistook for her rental and which was, unfortunately, open with the keys in the ignition.

After 2 weeks, she came back to Enterprise return the vehicle, and she made sure she complained to the manager about giving her a dirty, obviously used auto.

The woman accidentally stole his vehicle after driving to Walmart right after picking up her rental Nissan Sentra from the local Enterprise Rental auto.

A woman in Cornwall, Ontario accidentally stole a auto that she thought was her rental-despite the fact it was a different make, model and body-style.

The keys she turned in belonged to a Nissan Infiniti rather than a Sentra, leaving the manager "slightly confused", said police. Since the rental auto used the same system she was none the wiser to the mixup and drove off on her merry way.

Police say both cars used fobs, which means they don't require a key to start the auto and it turned out the owner of the stolen Infiniti had left his key fob inside the vehicle.

From there she headed to Walmart, where she did a little shopping before tracking down a black vehicle in the sea of cars parked outside. And she didn't realize her mistake for another two weeks.

Upon returning the auto the woman explained her frustrations with the vehicle rental agency.

"You should never leave your key fob or keys in your vehicle - and always keep in mind to lock your auto doors before walking away from your auto".

It was the manager at the auto rental company who finally pieced together what had happened. Police say she caused confusion when she tried to drop of an Infiniti - not the Nissan she originally rented. For one, it was messy when she picked it up - and there was a set of golf clubs in the trunk. The manager looked at the Infiniti keys and told her that it wasn't the original vehicle she rented.

She immediately phoned police to explain the situation.

And that's not even where the story ends.

Eventually they drove over to the Wal Mart where they found the rental vehicle and called police. Soon after, a local man exited the store and began wandering about the parking lot in an increasing state of agitation, before concluding that his black Nissan Infiniti had been stolen, and calling police to report the theft.
