  • There have been several reports of disagreements between Arothe and some senior players

But reports emerged after the Asia Cup defeat that all was not well within the Indian camp, with players not happy with some of the training methodologies.

As per reports, Tushar Arothe handed over his resignation to the cricket regulatory board on Tuesday.

Tushar Arothe, the India Women coach, has stepped down from his post with immediate effect, five months before the World Twenty20 in Caribbean, citing "personal reasons".

"There's no hard feelings between the players and myself and any other support staff". After India's fine showing in the ICC Women's World Cup 2017 in England, the BCCI offered Arothe a two-year contract in November 2017. "If these girls want to achieve something, they need to come out of their comfort zone", said Arothe.

In a press release, BCCI said that they have accepted the resignation of Indian women's team coach Tushar Arothe. "And I wish to see more honesty and more intent from the players to do that".

Incidentally, Arothe's appointment was also surrounded by controversy as the former coach Purnima Rau was sacked from the role without any direct communication from the board. He was also tasked with the responsibility, along with George, to scout players for the India A sides that played against Australia and England in Mumbai in March.

The women's team toured South Africa a few months ago and won both the limited-overs series'. However, below-par performances at home against Australia and in the T20 tri-series featuring Australia and England seem to have played a part in the discontent between some of the high-profile regulars and Arothe. The Asia Cup loss is understood to have been the tipping point. While the coach was keen on having two practice sessions of two and half hours each in morning and afternoon, some of the seniors in their mid-30s were finding it hard to cope with the strenuous schedule.
