I think they agree with me on immigration.

In a series of tweets at the time, Trump said that "throughout my life, my two greatest assets have been mental stability and being, like, really smart".

But French President Emmanuel Macron told reporters the alliance had not agreed to anything new during the meeting. "I'm a very stable genius". It shows the measures approved by all the member states.

Trump said he made his anger clear to allies on Wednesday. "So he knows what he's signed up to", Macron said.

However, a formal summit declaration issued by the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation leaders Wednesday reaffirmed their "unwavering commitment" to the two percent pledge set in 2014 and made no reference to any effort to get to four percent. He claimed in a press conference that "Yesterday I let allies know I was extremely unhappy with what was happening". People are paying money that they never paid before.

"Germany is totally controlled by Russia because they will be getting 60-70 percent of their energy from Russia and a new pipeline", Trump said to reporters Wednesday morning, calling the alleged dependence on Russian energy "inappropriate".

Trump's comment that Germany was controlled by Russian Federation earned a rebuke from Berlin.

Indeed, very little happened in Brussels that had not been planned well in advance; apart from Trump sparking an unscheduled discussion about defense spending.

The U.S. spends the highest share of GDP, at 3.5 percent, and Luxembourg spends the lowest, at just over half of 1 percent. That was just one of several helicopter rides on the agenda for Trump, whose staff opted to keep him largely out of central London and the swarms of demonstrators who are likely to provide some of the defining images of his first official trip to the United Kingdom.

"I've taken over a lot of bad hands and I'm fixing each one of them, and I'm fixing them well", Trump said during a hastily called press conference Thursday.

President Donald Trump has warned Britain that it is "losing its culture" by allowing "millions and millions" of people to move to the continent.

Mr Trump fuelled a fire by appearing to criticise prime minister Theresa May's Brexit plan, after the resignation of foreign secretary Boris Johnson and her minister in charge of the European Union exit, David Davis.

The outdoor arrival ceremony at Blenheim - Trump wore a tuxedo and first lady Melania Trump a butter-yellow, chiffon off-the-shoulder gown - was a grand affair marked by a military band in bearskin hats, hundreds of business leaders in black tie and gorgeous setting sunlight.

The summit's dramatic, chaotic conclusion - complete with the US president suddenly making demands following a formal communique - bore a striking similarity to Trump's departure from last month's G7 meetings in Quebec. But also, that we are doing this already since many years. He said the 29-nation alliance supports the territorial integrity of Georgia, including its sovereignty over the breakaway regions of Abkhazia and South Ossetia.

Hours later, he and German Chancellor Angela Merkel met privately and discussed the pipeline, each reaffirming the partnership between the US and Germany.

Still, Trump will travel through London, participating in a meet-and-greet with diplomatic personnel at the United States embassy and staying overnight at the U.S. ambassador's residence in the city. Trump will meet with Prime Minister Theresa May and Queen Elizabeth II before heading to Scotland on the four-day visit.

Trump is arriving amid a swirl of domestic government turmoil as well, with May's government in crisis and her future as prime minister in question following a string of resignations from within her Cabinet over her Brexit strategy. As to whether he could unilaterally pull the USA out of the alliance without congressional approval, Trump said, "I think I probably can, but that's not necessary".
