A 19-year-old college student and Instagram model was posing for a bird's-eye water photo in the Bahamas when a shark bit her on the wrist, BuzzFeed News reports. She said she later learned that the risk of infection meant she could have lost her arm or her life.

The shark grabbed her and took her under the water.

"They are wild animals, and it's an uncontrollable situation", she said. They didn't consider the nurse sharks a threat until one of them bit her and pulled her underwater.

Seconds later, Zarutskie discovered why swimming with sharks on objective can be a risky idea.

The whole thing was caught in a series of images taken by her boyfriend's dad, as she's seen holding her arm above her head to make sure the blood didn't cause a frenzy.

"Against my boyfriend's wishes and his parents wishes".

Instagram model and influencer Katarina Zarutskie recently went a step too far when trying to get those grid pics on holiday, very much proving that there's nothing people won't do for a like. "I have all my fingers, I have my wrists, and I'm just so blessed it was a minor accident", Zarutske said.

"I'm not afraid of the ocean and if anything I respect and love it more", she says.

Raised in Laguna Beach, California, Zarutskie said she grew up surfing and enjoying the beach. The owner of the marina, David Hocher, told Eyewitness News others have been bitten there, and there were warning signs posted.

"[The doctors] now believe that I still have pieces of the shark teeth in my arm and I will forever have a scar", said Zarutskie, who noted she was anxious about the injury affecting her burgeoning modeling career. She's been taking various antibiotics to prevent infection from bacteria, and admitted that she's anxious about how this injury will affect her modeling career.

The injury cut her vacation with her boyfriend's family short. We're so glad she's okay.

Zarutskie's ordeal isn't over quite yet. She was convinced the shark had ripped her finger off.
