Hundreds of thousands are predicted to come on to the streets to demonstrate against a man they described as "dangerous and divisive".

Meanwhile, Theresa May's government is nervously anticipating disruption from the guest himself.

Some British citizens are even more distressed about Trump than they are about the U.K.'s own feverish political turmoil.

He also said he might speak to Boris Johnson, who quit as foreign secretary over May's plans for a business-friendly Brexit which was only agreed by her cabinet last Friday after two years of wrangling.

The US ambassador to the United Kingdom said meeting Johnson was "not on the schedule but the president makes his own schedule".

Prime Minister May has abundant reasons to seek a close relationship with Trump - not least, the United States will be an even more vital trade partner once Britain leaves the European Union next year - but it is an uneasy embrace, given her opposition to many of his key policies.

A working visit - like the one Mr Trump is making - may include some of the same activities as a state visit, but there are small differences.

Various protests and demonstrations have been organised in Bristol, Newcastle, Leeds, Cambridge and Cardiff after Trump arrives on Thursday. He will spend his only night in London tonight at the...

The Stop Trump Coalition accused the president of being "too scared to face protestors".

The decision to approve the flying of a giant blimp depicting Donald Trump as an angry, orange baby near Parliament has been defended by London Mayor Sadiq Khan. A giant inflatable depiction of Trump as a almost naked baby will hover above Parliament Square. He is expected to visit the US Ambassador in Regent's Park. "It's really kind of irrelevant to what we're trying to do, and doesn't express the opinion of the British people that I've met", he told the BBC's Today programme.

Most of the protests will take place that day in central London, the USA officials said, with some occurring the days before and after.

"The requirements of this complex operation need to be balanced with the right of individuals to a freedom of speech". The issue is 'Do they have freedom to protest, freedom to assemble and should they be allowed to do so? "The mayor of London should be ashamed of himself".

Ahead of his visit, Trump said Britain was now "in somewhat turmoil" as Prime Minister May grappled with a political crisis after two top ministers quit over her plans for trade ties with the European Union after Britain leaves the bloc next March.
