Nawaz, Maryam Sharif arrested in corruption case upon arrival in Pakistan

Pakistan's former Prime Minister who was arrested late on Friday has been shifted to Adiala jail in Rawalpindi, while his daughter Maryam Nawaz was sent to Seihala Rest House, declared as temporary sub-jail. I am making this sacrifice for generations to come. Last week, Nawaz and Maryam were sentenced to jail by an anti-corruption court.
Both Nawaz and Maryam were permitted to meet Begum Shamim Akhtar, Nawaz's mother, who was waiting at the airport to meet them, before arrest.
After the court passed its verdict, Federal Law and Information Minister Ali Zafar said the two would be arrested immediately upon arrival at any airport in the country, according to Pakistani newspaper Dawn.
The plane carrying Sharif, the supremo of the Pakistan Muslim League - N, and Maryam landed at Lahore's Allama Iqbal Airport at 9:15 IST, almost three hours late from the scheduled arrival.
