Microsoft Whiteboard app coming soon to iPhones and iPads

  • Microsoft updates Notepad with long awaited features in latest Windows 10 build

Since its first release in 1985, when it was bundled in with Windows 1.0, very little has changed about Microsoft's plain-text editor Notepad, but the software giant has recently announced the first tweaks to the utility in years. Current versions of Notepad don't support zooming at all and this changes in the next feature update for Windows 10. If it goes smoothly, the update would be a positive move for the tech giant after a spate of - shall we say - less-than-smooth rollouts these past few months.

Microsoft has finally launched its Whiteboard app for Windows 10 devices. Its upcoming update will make the platform more compatible with larger files, and will also improve its find-and-replace function. This enables users to find meanings of keywords, hear their pronunciation, and expand more details from their definitions. In addition to basic inking and keyboard support for writing out notes and ideas, Whiteboard includes the ability to add and manipulate images, shape recognition, and more. Importantly, Microsoft will also reset its Skip Ahead program, so that active users may be brought in as Windows Insiders, to receive regular build updates. They can also delete the last word in their document by pressing ctrl+backspace.

Notepad displays the zoom level in the status bar (if enabled). For those with small screens and lower resolutions, long lines that do not fit onto the screen will now be properly displayed. You can now use the arrow keys to deselect text before moving the cursor. It seems unlikely that Microsoft will port the features back to previous versions of Windows 10 or even older versions of Windows that the company still supports. The update titled "2018-07 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1803 (KB4338819)" comes with both security and non-security improvements.

That means in an Azure Active Directory and Active Directory you can authenticate a remote desktop session using biometrics.
