Florida native Jonathan Crenshaw stabbed a 22-year-old Chicago man twice with the scissors before running away, according to the Miami Beach Police Department report on Crenshaw's arrest early on Tuesday.

A 46-year-old homeless man with no arms was arrested in Miami Beach, Florida, for stabbing another man with a pair of scissors using his feet, police said on Wednesday.

Police said Crenshaw spontaneously told an officer that he was defending himself.

According to the Miami Herald, Crenshaw told Miami Beach police that he had been lying down when Coronado attacked him first, punching him in the head.

Crenshaw is well-known for selling paintings drawn with his feet to tourists on Miami's Lincoln Road mall.

The friend said they approached Crenshaw near the intersection of Collins Avenue and 16th Street and asked for directions, when he suddenly jumped up and stabbed Coronado in his arm. Paramedics took him to an area hospital for treatment.

Crenshaw's most recent conviction was for the felony battery of a police officer in 2014, and came with a sentence of 180 days in jail.

According to the arrest report, an officer showed up at the scene with the witness, who identified Crenshaw as the man who attacked her friend.

Crenshaw has been charged with aggravated battery.
