KL Rahul strikes career-best shot in ICC’s latest T20I rankings

  • Aaron Finch is currently rated 4th in the ICC T20I batting rankings

From 95 for 0 after the first 10 overs, Australia lost 8 for 88 and their 183 for 8 was not quite enough to better Pakistan in the final analysis.

In the points table, Pakistan is at the top by winning three out of four matches in this series.

Pakistan won the game with 4 balls to spare, registering their 9th consecutive series win.

The Australians were pushing for late innings runs in the 17th over when the leg-spinner took flight and dived wide from mid-off to make the catch.

Credits to opener D'Arcy Short who scored 76 runs from 53 balls and skipper Aaron Finch scored a quick fire of 47 runs off 27 balls.

This is Pakistan's ninth successive T20 series win and has helped the team retain their top position in the T20 ranking.

Australia T20 captain Aaron Finch has jumped three places to vault to the top of ICC T20I rankings for batsmen, while Pakistan's Fakhar Zaman and India's KL Rahul rose to the No. 2 and No. 3 spots respectively.

That was after he had led India to victory in the first game of the series with an unbeaten 101.

"I think Fakhar Zaman has been outstanding and a real thorn in our side". A former Navy man, Fakhar is an incredibly unassuming talent who has not stopped performing for his country since being given a chance in the Champions Trophy.

Whilst the young guns continue to inspire their team to greater heights, one can not underestimate the calming influence that the likes of veterans such as Shoaib Malik bring to the fold.

Zaman shared in a century stand with Shoaib Malik as Pakistan recovered from an early wobble in their pursuit of Australia's 183 for 8, and Malik then showed all the experience of an 18-year worldwide career to see his team home with an unbeaten 43.

And Pakistan's momentum proved too much for Australia to resist, Arthur's team improving on their previous highest successful run chase, when they reached a target of 176 against Bangladesh in Pallekele in September 2012.

For this, apart from the players themselves, the selectors and the chief selector Inzamam-ul-Haq must all be congratulated. As we saw from Pakistan today, you've got to play fearless cricket. Doing it consistently takes a lot of effort and also shows the mentality of the player.
