The launch date is set for December; two months later, on February 13, the spacecraft is expected to land on the moon.
The head of the project, the Israeli billionaire entrepreneur Morris Kahn said at a press conference that the launch of the spacecraft scheduled for December, after November it will be delivered in the United States.
The CEO of Israel Aerospace Industries, Josef Weiss, expressed similar thoughts. "The motor will brake the craft and it will reach the ground at zero speed for a soft landing". The spacecraft will orbit the Moon for nearly two months before landing, where it will record and send video and conduct some small science observations using a magnetometer.
Israeli billionaire philanthropist and SpaceIL President Morris Kahn, who donated around $27 million to the project, told reporters that its goal is in part to inspire young people in Israel to study science and join the country's space projects.
This project closed in 2011 as part of the Google Moon XPrize Contest, which offered $ 20 million to check on the Moon.
Speaking to JNS, Kahn said, "I think this will give us a sense of tremendous pride". "Even if they deal with space but do not enter another scientific or engineering field, we have realized the vision".
Kahn said costs associated with the program hover around $95 million. "Earth is getting smaller", and in the end "humanity's future is in space".
Its first task will be to plant an Israeli flag on the moon, organizers said. The project employs private Israeli company SpaceIL and Israel Aerospace Industries of the state.
Damari said "As soon as we went deep into the project and more people joined, we implicit its complication".
The Google prize expired in March without a victor having reached the moon, but Israel's team pledged to push forward.
The last spacecraft took a few days to reach the moon, but the SpaceIL will be fired into the oval orbit-a voyage in which two months would take but would fast save on carrying the necessary fuel for the trip. Israel would then join the exclusive club of nations that has accomplished this hard feat since the 1960s, becoming the fourth nation to land a craft on the moon after Russian Federation, the United States and China.
On July 21, 1969, Armstrong excellently articulated the words: "For humans this is a small step but a huge leap for mankind".
