Former UCLA basketball player Billy Knight was found on a Phoenix roadway early Sunday morning and pronounced dead shortly afterwards by the Phoenix Fire Department.

Knight, 39, played for UCLA from 1998-2002, averaging more than 14 points per game his senior season before entering into the 2002 NBA Draft where he was undrafted.

The former UCLA Bruin's death took his former teammates and coaches by surprise, especially just days after it was reported that former Bruin and former Sacramento Kings basketball player Tyler Honeycutt shot and killed himself during a standoff with police over the weekend.

"Notice of Knight's death surfaced after fellow former UCLA player Lorenzo Mata tweeted "...

Knight posted a six-minute video hours before his death and titled it "I am Sorry Lord". According to Phoenix police, there are no signs of foul play.

According to court records in Maricopa County, Arizona, prosecutors charged Knight with two counts apiece for sexual conduct with a minor, sexual abuse and molestation of a child.

He is also alleged to have posted a Youtube video explaining his life that he described as full of depressions.

He went on to add: "I just want to say that I lived a life of sin". I lied, I cheated and I stole from many people. "I isolated myself from my friends, and that's not something you should do". "Mental illness is serious".

He said he heard voices and didn't know where they came from. I isolated myself from my family members. You can't play around with life.

Knight continues, "I just ask God for forgiveness for all the wrong I've done". Speaking to the Los Angeles Daily news, Escoto said that "Honeycutt had been going through some things." .

He wasn't picked in the 2002 National Basketball Association draft but played professionally in France and Japan.

TMZ was the first to report the news.
