In the history of the Godzilla series, it's tough to gauge the strength of each vast creature, as the conflicts between monsters require both brute strength and fighting strategies to come out on top.

And today we have your first look at the movie via EW who just premiered 2 new pics from the film co-starring Vera Farmiga and Mill Bobby Brown.

The first images from Michael Dougherty's upcoming Godzilla: King of the Monsters were released today.

"Rodan's been kind of a sidekick character, but I've always had a soft spot for him" says Dougherty. "I think we've done him justice".

The director was quick to return to his feature though, revealing that King of the Monsters will pick up five years after the events of Gareth Edwards' Godzilla, and that despite the heroics of the titular behemoth, people remain on edge apropos of his existence. Dougherty played coy when it came to the specifics of how the monster would debut this ability. It's really gonna be something seeing all these creatures rendered in 2018 effects, but for my money the real draw of Godzilla: King of The Monsters will be seeing Dougherty work with this level of spectacle.

What's more, it seems that this sequel - as its title suggests - will see Godzilla joined by various other large creatures from Japanese legend, including the three-headed King Ghidorah, the giant insect Mothra, and flying monster, Rodan.

"It takes place at a very key moment and it's a sort of call to arms", he said.

Godzilla: King of the Monsters is directed by Michael Dougherty and stars Vera Farmiga, Ken Watanabe, Sally Hawkins, Kyle Chandler, Millie Bobby Brown, Bradley Whitford, Thomas Middleditch, Charles Dance, O'Shea Jackson Jr., Aisha Hinds, and Zhang Ziyi. "It's not like we're bending over backwards to introduce Kong, but there's definitely some bread crumbs", says the director. It hits theaters May 31, 2019.
