  • Microsoft Bringing the Movies & TV Service to iOS and Android

If Microsoft decides to go ahead with the Surface Phone launch, it will mark the tech giant's re-entry into the smartphone space after pulling the plug on Windows Phones previous year.

"All the fans of windows phone [sic] want Microsoft to release the Surface Phone aka Surface Andromeda Phone Project that has been leaking out lately with the phone screen that can turn into a tablet", the poorly-written petition description notes. "I myself wouldn't mind paying between $799-$999 (base figures, I would be willing to pay more if the phone is truly groundbreaking when it comes out)", concludes Hinski. Using a clever mechanism that features a display mounted on a hinge, the device, which is widely rumored to be the Surface Phone, would be able to fold in and out to take various forms and adopt different functionalities.

A Change.org petition is asking hopeful buyers of the Surface Phone to add their signatures in an effort to convince Microsoft to continue itscourse inlaunching the project later this year, which was known by its Andromeda code name.

Are you wanting Microsoft to re-enter the mobile space with the highly-anticipated Surface Phone, or do you think it's right that they postpone the project and get it right, or cancel it altogether?

This is partially because of scheduling and quality, sources say, but more so because there's still no compelling reason for Microsoft to come to market with its current iteration of a small, dual-screen mobile device, according to ZDNet.

Microsoft has delayed Andromeda's release so that it has more time to work on Andromeda's OS, but Andromeda itself has not been canceled, at least not yet.
A report from Windows Central indicates that this is going to change as Microsoft wants to bring Movies & TV service to iOS and Android devices in an attempt to make the application cross-platform. Hinski's petition has already gathered around 10,000 supporters on the website.
