England's midfielder Fabian Delph is heading back to Russian Federation from the United Kingdom to join teammates after his wife was successfully delivered of their third child.

The Manchester City player, who posted a picture of himself on an aeroplane, wrote: "I've just experienced the most wonderful 24 hours".

"At 07:52 Me my wife and 2 handsome daughters welcomed their baby sister into the world".

"I can't put into words the happiness and gratitude I'm feeling", he wrote in an Instagram post.

Delph was supported by England manager Gareth Southgate in his decision to leave the camp before Tuesday´s tense last-16 victory over Colombia on penalties. "Back to Russian Federation now #TunnelVision".

The Manchester City player was in action from the start in England's narrow loss to Belgium's Red Devils on Thursday night in Kaliningrad and left for England to be beside his partner Natalie.

Delph, 28, added that he is now flying back to Russian Federation to rejoin the rest of the England squad, who have returned to their Repino base following Tuesday's dramatic victory over Colombia in Moscow.

In contrast to Delph´s decision, Sweden captain Andreas Granqvist has said he will definitely stay in Russian Federation to play at the weekend even if his wife goes into labour.

Ahead of the tournament, Delph was seen as more of an extra in Southgate's cast for this summer's tournament, but he has proved himself a valuable asset thus far with positive displays on his World Cup debut against Panama before performing admirably in a weakened Three Lions outfit against group G victor Belgium.
