Real Madrid have released a statement insisting they have "no plans" to make an approach for Paris Saint-Germain star Neymar.

'Given the information issued tonight by TVE on a supposed offer of Real Madrid to PSG and player Neymar, Real Madrid CF said that this information is outright false.

"The relationship between the two clubs is extraordinary, so that, if at some point Real Madrid were considering signing a PSG player, the first thing it would do would be to go to his club". To play the first match as if nothing had happened is hard.

PSG are unlikely to part with a superstar they broke the bank to acquire, while it would be an unusual move for a former Barcelona player to become a Galatico.

"Real Madrid has not made any kind of offer to PSG or the player".

Neymar seems set to remain in Paris for another season at least then, with Real Madrid likely to turn their attention towards Eden Hazard as their replacemet for Cristiano Ronaldo, who has moved to Juventus after nine seasons at the Santiago Bernabéu.

"With this in mind and eager to hold on the 26-year-old, PSG have initiated talks with his representatives and want to improve his contract terms", the site claims; adding, "PSG will pay Neymar the same as Messi". "Five years ago I asked him why he did it. and he told me it was so the person fouling him couldn't do more damage". But the Parisian club are hoping this new salary offer will prevent him from wanting to leave.

"We expected more from him because he's the team's star".
