Cardi's suit claims that when the artist "questioned whether it was proper for her to receive only 50 percent", Shaft "deceitfully told her that this was an absolutely standard percentage for a recording artist to receive". The control extended to who she chose to date.

The complaint, which can be read in full here, states: "Ms. Almanzar entrusted Shaft and his related entities with many aspects of her professional and business affairs and that trust was abused. Unlike most loans, this loan was not formalized with any note, carried no interest, required no collateral and provided no realistic means of repayment".

And it was for this reason the former manager sued her and demanded no less than $10 million in damages.

Recall that the former manager, Klenord "Shaft" Raphael claimed that Cardi left him for new representation at Solid Foundation, and in the statement shared with the press, said: "Since discovering Cardi B in 2015, Shaft has played an integral role in developing her music career and public image". He's also accused her current managers Quality Control Management's Kevin "Coach K" Lee and Pierre "Pee" Thomas of tortious interference.

According to the court docs per TMZ, the Be Careful singer says Klenord "Shaft" Raphael was too controlling over her career and had set up a management deal that was much too one-sided.

Cardi B has chose to launch a counter-suit against Klenord Raphael on the basis that he exploited her and tried to maintain control over her career and personal life.

In April, Cardi had a suit filed against her by Raphael, who claimed he'd helped to develop her talent and reputation only for her to turn her back on him when she reached the top of the music business. This is the same record label that signed rap group the Migos, of which her husband Offset (real name Kiari Kendrell Cephus) is a member.

Cardi B is preparing for motherhood by going after her former manager for trying to control her life.
