Call of Duty: Black Ops 4’s Multiplayer Beta Begins Early Next Month

  • Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 multiplayer and Blackout betas detailed, dated

We've previously reported on a rumor about how many players Call of Duty: Black Ops 4's battle royale mode, Blackout, would support. This initial private beta will only be available to those playing on PS4. The developer revealed that it will host two separate tests for the shooter-one for multiplayer, the other for the battle royale-style Blackout mode-ahead of the game's launch, with the first scheduled to kick off next month. Of course, you'll need to pre-order Black Ops 4 to get access to the beta.

The "multiplayer beta" will be available first on the PlayStation 4 on August 3-6, but will come to the PC on Battle.net-not Steam-the following weekend.

The multiplayer beta will have six maps, and include Team Deathmatch, Domination, Hardpoint, Search & Destroy, and the new objective-based Control mode.

Unusually, Activision didn't show that much of this year's Call Of Duty at E3 but they are gearing up for not one but two betas for Black Ops 4. The "early access" beta for people who have preordered the game will begin at 10 am PT/1 pm ET on August 10, while the doors will open to everyone at the same time on August 11. "Each team has a limited number of lives in this first-to-three wins match-up", said Treyarch "so strategic strikes and defensive positioning are key, making for some fast and frenetic gunfights".

We've brought the Pick 10 system back to Create-a-Class to give players complete customization over their loadout, and with its return comes a few new changes.

Weapons now have unique sets of attachments, including a new class of powerful attachments called Operator Mods, to really focus each gun on its individual role in combat. The Blackout Beta will then arrive on all formats sometime in September. More specific details will be shared as we get closer.
