  • Barcelona confirm €35.9m Clement Lenglet capture from Sevilla

Sevilla's French centre back, Clement Lenglet, has signed for Barcelona.

It brings to an end a saga that has stretched several months, with the Catalan side having always been linked with the Frenchman.

The La Liga champions triggered Lenglet's €35.9m release clause before agreeing terms with the centre-back on a five-year contract, which includes a new release clause of €300m.

The French global joined Sevilla from Nancy in January 2017 and scored four goals in 52 games last season.

It should also be emphasised that Lenglet didn't exercise on Thursday morning.

The 23-year-old joins a growing French contingent at Camp Nou, including forward Ousmane Dembele, and defenders Lucas Digne and Samuel Umtiti.

Poniente Beach in Alicante is where Sevilla are training and Lenglet is still there as he now belongs to the club. He has played for France at Under-21 level but has never been called up to the first team.

It is believed that Lenglet is now in pre-season training with Pablo Machin's Sevilla, but will leave their camp and travel to Barca soon, where he will be presented as their new signing, according to Sport.

Meanwhile, the Catalans are seeking to offload several players following the arrival of Arthur as they need to free up spots for non-EU players.
