  • Burke tries to leave the store but is stopped from doing so by a security guard. Instead she heads into a storeroom and climbs into a ventilation shaft

Incredible CCTV footage captures the eventful robbery and it's one that has to be seen to be believed.

The remarkable arrest in a convenience store in Canada.

The store owners told authorities that they became suspicious that a man and woman had a stolen credit card, so they called police. Eventually, an officer with the local Royal Canadian Mounted Police got the man-identified as Richard Pariseau-down on the ground, aiming his weapon at the prone suspect.

When an officer arrived, Pariseau pushed Burke toward him trying to flee.

Pariseau was charged with using a stolen credit card, resisting arrest from the police, resisting arrest from someone aiding the police, assaulting a police officer, attempting to disarm a police officer, possession of stolen property under $5000, mischief under $5,000 and breaching probation, among other offenses. Confronted with the same locked door, she tried a more subtle method, climbing into the store's ceiling panels via a ladder.

Things quickly escalate and the male suspect removes his t-shirt in an attempt to break free.

Bhagwant Chauhan/Store Owner: "I'm very proud of him". Nasheim said the owner "provided valuable assistance to the responding RCMP member which was instrumental in helping with the apprehension of both suspects".

The woman was arrested without further incident.

"Thank God nobody got hurt", he said.

While the officer chased Pariseau, Burke climbed up into the ceiling - but came crashing down soon after. "We have two less people in the world who are bad".
