Hundreds of thousands of people are expected to rally across the country Saturday to protest the Trump administration's "zero tolerance" immigration policy, according to organizers.

For the past several weeks, the Trump administration's "zero tolerance" policy on undocumented immigrants - including the now-rescinded policy of separating children from their parents when they are apprehended at the Mexican border - has sparked an global outcry.

Women's March officials, including board member and anti-Semitic Palestinian activist Linda Sarsour and co-president Bob Bland, called for abolishing the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), the firing of Attorney General Jeff Sessions and Trump's policy adviser Stephen Miller.

Last week, Trump signed an order ending the separation of families but immigration lawyers say the process of doing so will be long and chaotic.

More than 2,000 children remain in detention centers without their parents, and the Trump administration is planning to detain families together indefinitely while adults await immigration trials.

The "Families Belong Together - Freedom for Immigrants March", was set to follow the rally, and will end in front of the immigration holding facility on Aliso and Alameda streets. City and state officials say hundreds of separated children were brought here NY.

Demonstrators have been asked to wear white and carry signs with messages such as "Keep Families Together" or "Familias Unidas, No Dividas".

"These radical Democrat protesters, they really want anarchy", he said.

A federal judge has ordered that families separated at the border be reunited within 30 days.

The Washington protest was to begin in Lafayette Square - directly across from the White House - before a march toward the Capitol.

The Trump administration has been widely criticized by opponents and allies over children being separated from their parents by US authorities at the border.

"We are here to say we're ready to sacrifice, and we're ready to leave our jobs, leave our families to come and take this act of civil disobedience here", Sarsour said. "These women.they understand that it is far beyond politics, this is about right and wrong and we have to stand up".

"The Trump Administration has been engaged - since January of 2017 -in restoring order to the lawlessness at the Southwest border and protecting our nation's citizens, but we are beholden to a broken immigration system that Congress has refused to fix and that courts have exacerbated", the department said in a news release.

"People across my state of NY, all across the country are furious with this administration's policy to separate children from their parents", Sen.

"The point is, you show up to this and you commit to supporting immigrant communities in the long term", Omeish said.
