  • AIDS Simulator and ISIS Simulator removed from Steam by Valve

Under Valve's new content policy, the company would still reject the controversial "Active Shooter", pulled from the distribution platform earlier this month, according to the company's vice president of marketing, Doug Lombardi. Gamers could either take on the role of a SWAT team member or the active shooter themselves, according to the Deseret News.

"We rejected Active Shooter because it was a troll, created to do nothing but generate outrage and cause conflict through its existence", Valve VP of Marketing Doug Lombardi told GamesBeat.

Last week, Valve removed a game called "Active Shooter" from the Steam marketplace following uproar over being able to allow players to simulate a school shooting. "There will be people throughout the Steam community who hate your games, and hope you fail to find an audience, and there will be people here at Valve who feel exactly the same way".

With the recent announcement by Valve that Steam would be an open platform with little to no moderation outside of removal of things that were illegal or trolling, turns out that yes controversial games will also be removed. With Berdiyev's repeated history of user review manipulation and abuse, his content would have eventually been removed from Steam for violating their policies.

A week after pulling a school shooting simulator, Steam, a popular online gaming platform, has stepped back, deciding it "shouldn't be the ones" policing what gamers "can or can't buy" on its online store. Active Shooter has also been filed under "trolling" and therefore blocked. "Now you're mad and want to kill all Africans that gave you AIDS to get revenge".

On Thursday the digital store dropped AIDS Simulator, ISIS Simulator and Suicide Simulator -all of them shoddy-looking games with controversial titles. "AIDS Simulator is a very short first-person shooter with boring gameplay, bad graphics, and generic assets". There are no second chances for Active Shooter, or its developers. Another $2.99 title, called Suicide Simulator, was marketed with the words: "End your life using a variety of different tools and methods".
