"It was nice to finish like that and get it back".

"I'm glad it over, for sure", Johnson said.

Johnson shot 7-under 63 for his lowest round this year and grabbed a one-stroke lead Friday after 36 holes at the St. Jude Classic. He was tied with Bryan Wesley (69) at 9 under. He was at 7 under.

Johnson had a one-shot lead over fellow Americans Ryan Blaum and Andrew Putnam.

Phil Mickelson had a 65 and was at 6 under. That meant someone from the pack was going to have to chase the course record, and Johnson and Putnam were going to have to make a lot of mistakes if anyone else was going to make a charge.

"Just wanted to play, stay sharp", Johnson said. "If I can get a good read and good speed, they're going to go in".

Nordqvist won the 54-hole event in 2015 and 2016 on Stockton Seaview's Bay Course and finished second previous year.

Johnson faces a battle to keep hold of the berth at the season's second major, with Thomas and England's Justin Rose intent on usurping him.

The top Canadian was Nick Taylor, who finished tied for 30th at 277, three under. I m hitting my irons well, and my wedges are really good.

"I feel like I steadied the ship a little bit after a rough start", he said.

"I'm swinging the club well". "I'm going to have to play a lot like I did this week if I want to win next week".

"I really like this golf course because you have to focus on every shot". 12 and 13 after hitting into the rough.

After a 322 yard drive on the 554-yard par-5 third, Thornberry chipped his third shot to 3 feet, which he rolled for one-putt birdie on the hole.

Johnson birdied the third hole and bogeyed the fifth to make the turn at even par.

UPDATE NO. 5 (5:14 p.m. ET): Ole Miss rising senior Braden Thornberry stuffs his final approach shot and birdies the par-4 18th to shoot 2-over 74 and finish at 4 under.

Snedeker, who lives in Nashville, Tennessee, hadn't played this event three hours away from his home in five years and none of his eight PGA Tour victories have been at the TPC Southwind.

ATZENBRUGG, Austria - Mikko Korhonen of Finland won the inaugural Shot Clock Masters by six strokes for his first European Tour title. 15, 16 and 17, but a hiccup at the last hole dropped him to 5 under.

Although he had already clinched the St. Jude Classic title, Dustin Johnson made noise on the 18th and final hole on Sunday.
