The US President went for a lunch earlier today with Singapore's Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and even celebrated his birthday a couple of days early with a cake. He was accompanied by his sister Kim Yo Jong and Foreign Minister Ri Yong Ho.

Flanked by bodyguards, Kim also visited the Marina Bay Sands resort.

Mr Trump had earlier tweeted about the "excitement in the air".

A United States official said on Monday that Mr Trump and Mr Kim will first meet one on one with translators in a session that could last up to two hours before they open the meeting to their respective advisers.

Trump is set to dispatch U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to Seoul in the aftermath of the summit to discuss plans to work together on realizing any agreement made on Tuesday.

America is hoping to be able to convince Pyongyang to get rid of its nuclear weapons.

While is it not news that North Korea's denuclearisation is likely to be the main agenda, Trump had last week said that the entire process of etching out a nuclear deal would take more than a single meeting.

We support lasting peace and security on the Korean Peninsula, however, we are pessimistic towards American treatment and behavior in worldwide field, Ghasemi noted.

As the North Korean leader prepared for his meeting with US President Donald Trump, it appeared he had increased security which included taking his personal toilet on the flight. It formally referred to Trump by his full name in the Monday report, including his middle initial-the first time it has done so. Others complained about the traffic jams in downtown Singapore.

The North Koreans are staying on the top three floors of the St. Regis, a Reuters reporter discovered. "Kim must not see American weakness".

Although gaps remain over what denuclearisation would entail, Mr Trump sounded a positive note in a lunch meeting with Singapore's Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.

"We have a very interesting meeting in particular tomorrow, and I think things can work out very nicely", Trump said.

Trump also said he would not withdraw USA troops from South Korea as part of the agreement, though he would like to "get our soldiers home" at some point. North Koreans found out that Kim had agreed to meet Trump months after the rest of the world, as government media refused to break the news. Traffic was held up in the steamy midday sun and scores of bystanders were penned in by police when Trump went to meet Lee.

A group of North Korean security staff were seen coming back into the hotel with cardboard boxes, one with McDonald's takeaway.

As the summit wrapped up, administration officials said they gave Kim and his aides a film outlining the choices facing North Korea.

"President Trump has demonstrated his strong will to resolve the North Korean nuclear issue and establish peace on the Korean Peninsula through his practical actions".

At the same time, Trump stressed that Washington would not accept Pyongyang's refusal to denuclearize. Pompeo also reiterated that the United States will maintain its sanctions on North Korea until it fully dismantles its nuclear weapons program - seemingly writing off the prospect of the phased approach North Korea has sought.

Mr Kim's selfie comes as part of a wider trend of world leaders getting in on the act.

The public will quickly find out how Trump viewed the summit. "The process could be doomed before it begins".

Meanwhile, U.S. and North Korean officials huddled at a hotel Monday ahead of the sit-down aimed at resolving a standoff over Pyongyang's nuclear arsenal. But official says meeting is meant to be "start of a relationship" and there will more to come between both sides if things go well. A USA official says the leaders then plan to meet one on one, joined only by translators, for up to two hours before admitting their respective advisers. He described it as a "get to know you plus" meeting.
