Rudy Giuliani: Trump 'probably' has power to pardon himself

The tweet from the president came amid the ongoing investigation, led by special counsel Robert Mueller, into Russian involvement in the 2016 election and any possible links with the Trump campaign.
It was the first time Trump asserted the power to pardon himself.
On Sunday, Giuliani told the US television network ABC it is an "open question" whether Trump would sit for an interview with Mueller, but the president's lawyers were leaning against having him testify.
But he added that Trump "probably does" have the power to pardon himself, an ¬assertion challenged by legal scholars.
"And he has no need to do it, he's done nothing wrong", he added.
But this contradicts assertions made in a letter written to special counsel Robert Mueller by the president's lawyers.
Moscow officials have denied allegations of interference, calling the accusations groundless and absurd.
It remains unclear what, if any, information Trump based his claim on, but it fits into his and his administration's efforts to discredit Mueller's probe, which the president has consistently derided as a "witch hunt".
It's not clear what the full context of the statement was, because it refers, among other things, to a January 8 conversation between Trump's lawyers and the Mueller team. Charles E. Grassley, Iowa Republican, told CNNthe president should hire a new lawyer if he's getting legal advice about self-pardons. The document outlines the president's legal strategy and argues that Trump can not be indicted, subpoenaed or found guilty of obstruction of justice because he is the nation's "chief law enforcement officer".
Trump's lawyers sent the letter as part of a broader argument that the President should not have to sit down with the special counsel.
"I think Jay was wrong", Giuliani said on ABC's "This Week". Pardoning yourself is another.
Speaking at an investment conference in Tel Aviv hosted by the Globes newspaper, Giuliani echoed Trump's claim that Mueller's team is dominated by Democrats who are out to get him.
Bharara, who was appointed by former president Barack Obama, told CNN that for a president to pardon himself would be "outrageous". "But I don't think a president should pardon themselves". "I think if the President decided he was going to pardon himself, I think that's nearly self-executing impeachment", he told CNN.
Rudy Giuliani says President Donald Trump's decision to cancel a summit brought North Korea's leader to "his hands and knees" to beg to reschedule the meeting. "And that's what we call in America framing somebody", Giuliani said.
