Rose McGowan's trial date set for cocaine charge

  • Rose Mc Gowan indicted on cocaine possession charge could face up to 10 years in prison

She claims that she received a message on Instagram a few days later about her wallet and the cocaine.

Her attorney Jose Baez said McGowan's charge is a result of "her activism as a voice for women everywhere". "I assure you, this selective prosecution will be met with a strong defence".

McGowan voluntarily surrendered to authorities in Virginia in November in response to an arrest warrant.

The actress and activist has been charged with felony cocaine possession over an incident that occurred in January 2017.

Charging documents say cocaine was found in a wallet McGowan left behind on a plane previous year. The items tested positive for cocaine. Her trial date is expected to be scheduled Tuesday at the courthouse in Loudoun County, Virginia.

Defense attorney Jessica Carmichael argued, however, that there was not enough evidence to prove McGowan's guilt, pointing to inconsistencies among witnesses as well as the hours that passed between the flight's landing and the wallet's discovery.

Rose McGowan accidentally left her wallet on a United Airlines flight at Washington Dulles Airport previous year.

Weinstein has denied the allegations. When the narcotics accusations against McGowan surfaced, she said it was an attempt to silence her and was a "load of horsesh*t".

After McGowan's tweets, Weinstein hired several private security agencies, one operated by veterans of the Israeli intelligence service Mossad, to block women from reporting that he allegedly sexually assaulted or harassed them, according to the New Yorker.
