  • Bauer Media appealed against a Supreme Court of Victoria order that Wilson be compensated $650,000 in general damages and $3,917,472 in special damages

Rebel Wilson has dropped into Twitter yesterday to 1) Educate her fans about people unlawfully using her image to sell shit; 2) Remind everyone she already won her defamation case against Bauer Media; and most importantly, 3) Show off the gorgeeeee Prague filming location for her next film, Taika Waititi's Jojo Rabbit.

Australian actress Rebel Wilson speaks to the media out the front of the Victorian Supreme Court after a jury of six has returned unanimous verdicts in favour of Wilson against Bauer Media.

However the Court of Appeal found "there was no basis in the evidence for making any award of damages for economic loss".

The final figure is significantly less than the $4.5 million the Pitch Perfect star had originally been awarded in damages after she was defamed in a series of magazine articles.

But Bauer Media appealed and the Woman's Day publisher had a major win on Thursday.

The original damages sum awarded to Ms Wilson last September was the largest defamation payment ever ordered by an Australian court, and several media organisations questioned whether the decision set a new precedent for defamation payments.

"The trial judge erred in finding the plaintiff had established, on the balance of probabilities, the loss of an opportunity to earn US$15 million from being cast in lead or co-lead roles in three feature films", the judgment said.

The actress she won her defamation case against Bauer Media in September past year. Bauer Media immediately said it would appeal the record-breaking payment.

"This case was never about the money for me".

Speaking on behalf of Bauer Media, general counsel, Adrian Goss, said: "It was important for us to revisit the award of damages". "The Court of Appeal in Australia will be handing down their decision in the morning re my defamation case against @bauermedia".
