OxygenOS 5.1.7 update for the OnePlus 6 fixes bootloader vulnerability

18 June, 2018, 12:15 | Author: Rafael Roberts
  • OnePlus has released a fix for the OnePlus 6 bootloader vulnerability

The changelog also indicates fixes for the Do Not Disturb (DND) mode which was earlier reported to have an issue involving the schedule setting. Did you face any issues with OxygenOS 5.1.6 update?

While it's appeasing that the serious Bootloader vulnerability and Scheduled DND related issues have been taken care of in OxygenOS 5.1.7, OnePlus 6 users in India are now out of luck as they will have to wait for OxygenOS 5.1.8, which is set to roll out next week. Clearly, this kind of vulnerability is not one that OnePlus is taking lightly, and OxygenOS 5.1.7 is now rolling out to fix it.

After a number of update since the OnePlus 6 launch, comes another one that is aimed at fixing the device's bootloader vulnerability. It is also coming with all the features of the v5.1.7. However, OnePlus has now announced that it has halted the OxygenOS 5.1.6 update in India.

The update is slowly rolling out in all the countries, but it will take some time to reach your smartphone.

We will be releasing 5.1.8 update next week which will include the fix & also contain all the features included in the 5.1.7 update.
That's because some OnePlus 6 users in India ran into stability problems with OxygenOS 5.1.6, so OnePlus has paused that update and is working to address the stability issues with an update to OxygenOS 5.1.8. With such a low-level update as this as well, installing a new bootloader, it might be in your best interest to wait and see if any problems arise for other people first.
