DUBLIN: New Zealand´s Amelia Kerr hit a world record 232 not out in the third one-day worldwide against Ireland on Wednesday and then took five wickets to complete a remarkable day for the 17-year-old.

"Just see the ball, hit the ball, really". Before this series, Kerr's highest ODI score was 30 and she had scored 174 runs overall in her ODI career.

Her innings at Clontarf Cricket Club was the second-highest in all women's formats and is only bettered by two knocks in men's ODIs.

Her innings, consisting of of 31 fours and two sixes off 145 deliveries, was enough to surpass Belinda Clark's 229 not-out scored back in 1997 to become to highest women's ODI score in history. Three of the top five centuries scored by the youngest players were scored against Ireland.

She also became the youngest ever to score a double ton across formats in global cricket.

Kerr, whose 295-run stand with Leigh Kasperek (113) for the second wicket helped the White Ferns to 440-3, then claimed 5-17 with her leg-spin as New Zealand skittled Ireland for 135 to seal a 3-0 series whitewash. The record was earlier held by Javed Miandad, who scored a double hundred in a Test match at 19 years and 140 days.

"New Zealand, who posted a world record for men and women when they scored 490 for four in the first one-day worldwide, now head to England for a triangular Twenty20 series with the hosts and South Africa".
