  • Israeli Prime Minister Says Iran Deal is 'Done'

Israel has been pledging for months to prevent its main enemy Iran from entrenching itself militarily in Syria, where Tehran is backing Assad's government.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made the remarks Thursday during a visit to a think tank in London.

According to Netanyahu, Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad is "no longer immune" and his military is a viable target for Israel.

"If he fires at us, we will destroy his forces".

Those strikes followed a barrage of rockets that Israel said were fired toward its forces in the occupied Golan Heights by Iran from Syria, in retaliation for previous Israeli strikes.

Netanyahu met Wednesday in Paris with French Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire, who is pushing to maintain European trade with Iran allowed under the 2015 deal curbing Iranian nuclear activities.

Israel continues to denounce the Iran Nuclear Deal, saying it is "done" and claiming companies are pulling investments from the country.

"We have a President trump there is no disagreement on Iran, and I appreciate it very much".

At the same time, he criticised his European hosts for an outdated approach to the region.

Before setting out on his trip to Europe, Netanyahu had indicated that Iran would be the first and only subject on his agenda in meetings with European leaders.

"There is a whole realignment taking place in the Middle East - they're sort of stuck in the past", he added, displaying a map of the world with numerous countries highlighted to show Israel's "expanding diplomatic horizons". Stop it. Here's what I think now.
