The conduct of all GFA officials and the suspended director-general of the National Sports Authority, Robert Sarfo Mensah, was referred to police for further investigation and any "appropriate action", he added. The association says it was alerted about the possibility of matchfixing in Ghana eight months ago.

Embattled President of the Ghana Football Association, Kwesi Nyantakyi who just resigned from his position has rendered an unqualified apology to President Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo Addo for comments he made in Anas' latest expose, #Number 12.

"Though the GFA did not commission Tiger Eye PI to undertake this exercise and have not been provided with the opportunity of watching the documentary, we view the allegations circulating in the media very seriously and would wish to take immediate steps to address them", the FA said in a statement.

In the apology which was contained in his resignation letter, Mr Nyantakyi also asked for forgiveness from Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia, Ministers and Deputy Ministers of State for his indiscretion in associating them with the private conversations in the Anas video.

A member of the Ghana Football Association, Kofi Manu known popularly as blue boy has described Anas Aremeyaw Anas as the most wicked citizen in Ghana.

The scenes in the documentary shown in the 6 000-capacity auditorium of the Accra International Conference Centre drew intermittent uproar from the crowd, which included business leaders, the clergy, civil society leaders, diplomats and sport administrators.

In different segments, other soccer officials such as referees were shown accepting bribes ranging from goats to cash sums of 300 to 4 000 cedis ($64-$858) to make favourable decisions.

The film's revelations have also led to Mr Nyantakyi being put under investigation for fraudulently using Ghana's President Nana Akufo-Addo's name - by order of the president himself.

"I am yet to recover from the shock".

Ghana, who have played at three previous World Cups, missed out on the this year's tournament which starts in Russian Federation on June 14.
