Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said on Saturday that a secure and stable Afghanistan is essential to regional security and development, emphasizing that Iran will spare no effort to promote lasting peace in the war-ravaged country, according to Iran's Press TV report.

"Russia stands for the consistent, rigorous implementation of the JCPOA and would continue to honour all our commitments", Putin further said.

"Once again, nothing concrete was said", Putin said, referring to the G-7 statement.

"I have made it very clear to the President that it is not something we relish doing, but it is something that we absolutely will do", Trudeau said.

French President Emmanuel Macron's thumb left a literal imprint on US President Donald Trump's hand at the G7 summit in Canada as they continued their tradition of intense handshakes.

Recalling that China and Iran announced the establishment of comprehensive strategic partnership during his state visit to Iran in 2016, Xi said the two countries since then have increased cooperation and fully implemented the consensus reached between him and President Rouhani. "We have opened both our country and our hearts to the world".

Russian President Vladimir Putin also criticised the USA for its withdrawal, claiming the decision could potentially destabilise the situation.

"I would say that the G8 is a more meaningful group than the G7, absolutely", Trump said.

Earlier on June 9, Trump told a news conference the issue of Russia's return to the group was discussed.

Describing the JCPOA as a great multilateral achievement that guarantees regional peace and cooperation, the Chinese leader said, "With their unilateral spirit and disregard of commitments and regulations, Americans are seeking to change worldwide order to their own benefit". This would hit hard on worldwide businesses of Iran. The summit also included Russian Federation and former Soviet republics.

Putin said the bloc's new counterterrorism agreement foresees joint drills, exchanging information and conducting coordinated anti-terror action.

He emphasized the need for the group to closely follow the situation in Afghanistan to fend off the threats posed by militants in the country.

Founded in 2001, the Beijing-based SCO has largely served as a vehicle for resolving border issues, fighting terrorism and - more implicitly - to counter American influence in Central Asia following its invasion of Afghanistan.

"We did not (choose to) leave it, our colleagues refused to come to Russian Federation due to known reasons at some point".

Russian Federation did not choose to leave the G7 and would be happy to host its members in Moscow, President Vladimir Putin said on Sunday when asked about U.S. President Donald Trump's suggestion that Russian Federation should have been at its latest meeting. The seven countries used to dominate the world economy, but lost their edge as China and India surged and Europe and Japan stagnated.
