Flensburg stabbing: One dead after knife attack at train station in Germany

In the German city of Flensburg was a conflict between the passenger train EN route from Cologne to Hamburg.

Local media say that there has been at least one fatality and two injuries.

Early reports suggested that the one dead was the assailant, while the two injured were policemen who had taken him down.

A 22-year-old female police officer, who happened to be traveling on the same train, tried to intervene but was then also injured by the attacker.


The suspect is not known at this time.

During the journey a man attacked another person with a knife in carriage 10, Bild have reported.

The station at Flensburg was evacuated cordoned off on Wednesday evening as police investigated at the scene.

No trains were travelling to and from Flensburg - a town at the tip of the Flensburg Fjord in northern Germany, following the incident. They did not release further information on the three people's identities.
