  • FBI agent who accidentally shot bar patron after dropping his gun while dancing charged with assault

Additional charges could be filed based on the results of a blood-alcohol content test, which has not yet been received, authorities said.

A spokesman for the Denver District Attorney's office told HuffPost 29-year-old Chase Bishop turned himself in, but he has not yet been formally charged. "If an additional charge needs to be filed after further evidence is received, we can file those charges then".

The FBI agent whose gun went off in a LoDo bar has been arrested and booked on assault charges. He then placed the gun in his waistband and walked off the dance floor with his hands in the air, the video shows. "The FBI will continue to fully cooperate with the Denver Police Department and the Denver District Attorney's Office as this matter proceeds through the judicial process".

Our Denver partner also reported that a former Federal Bureau of Investigation agent informed them that an agent who accidentally discharges a weapon will be automatically suspended for three days without pay.

Federal Bureau of Investigation officials have refused to release Bishop's name although he had been identified by other media outlets.

The man who was shot, Tom Reddington, told "Good Morning America" last week that he and his friends were sitting at one of the tables when he heard "a loud bang" that he thought was a firecracker.

Bishop was showing off his moves in the center of a dance circle at Mile High Spirits bar on June 2 when he launched into a back handspring.

The arrest comes a week after video of the incident went viral and raised questions as to why Bishop was not initially taken into custody. "And that's when it clicked in my head, 'Oh, I've been shot'". Reddington has been offered "complimentary drinks forever" at the business.
