  • Dancing FBI agent accused of accidentally shooting man at bar charged

Federal Bureau of Investigation agent Chase Bishop, 29, a D.C-based special agent that was visiting Denver for training earlier this month when he allegedly shot a man at Mile High Spirits in the city's LoDo downtown area, was charged Tuesday with assault in the second degree, a class 4 felony, by Denver District Attorney Beth McCann.

Bishop's story went viral after a video circulated on June 3 appeared to show him dropping a handgun while performing a backflip in Denver's Mile High Spirits distillery.

The Denver District Attorney's Office said Bishop, 29, turned himself in on Tuesday morning after an arrest warrant was issued and has since been booked into jail. Depending on what those results, additional charges could be filed.

The Denver District Attorney's Office said Bishop could face additional charges pending the results of a blood alcohol content analysis.

Our reporting partner, 9News in Denver, said that multiple sources told them that Bishop works out of Washington D.C. and is a decorated former Army captain who served in Afghanistan.

Reddington, who is now recovering at home from his gunshot wound, told Good Morning America that he had watched the footage a number of times and was still confused by how it managed to occur. "All of a sudden, from the knee down my leg became completely red", Reddington, 24, said.

He moved to pick the weapon up and unintentionally fired one shot, police said. "That's when it clicked in my head, 'Oh, I've been shot'".

Legal experts have said Reddington might be able to sue Bishop if he is proved to have been negligent.

The venue goes on to say that a security team was able to "execute a catastrophic event plan" that ensured the safe exit of all patrons in the establishment after the shooting.

Mile High Spirits said on its Facebook page that the bar's management was "deeply saddened" by the incident.
