Apple faced a backlash late previous year when it emerged that the company slowed down some older iPhones with flagging batteries. After the event, the CEO has sat down with CNN for an interview, where he has spoken about topics covering privacy, DATA, a newly introduced screen-time feature on iOS 12, immigration and his political views.

Software chief Craig Federighi said iOS 12 could carry out simple tasks, such as opening apps, up to twice as fast as its predecessor, iOS 11. The new system will work on a range of products that date back to 2013.

The App Store is also "getting a long-overdue redesign", the tech site says.

Siri is the most widely used of the assistants, due to the size of the iPhone universe, which has over 1 billion users, but consistently lags behind Alexa and Google in usability surveys.

What the new Suggestions feature looks like. The company also announced that all recordings can be accessed across devices with the help of iCloud syncing. This saves time and ensures consistent, comprehensible use without the limits on convenience of using the app. At the time, Apple said it was working on "new features and enhancements" to address the concerns, and in March, it added a new webpage to educate parents about existing controls.

During that time, app notifications are blocked from showing up on the home screen.

"We have never been about maximizing the number of times you pick [the device] up, the number of hours that you use it", Cook told NPR.

Apple also announced "Do Not Disturb During Bedtime", a tool that chokes off most traffic to the phone during sleeping hours. The shortcuts "appear based on whether you typically do those activities at those times", Lynch explained.

Animoji can be created to look similar to users' real-world appearance, or with a variety of digital accouterments like hats and costumes.

The tools will be baked into iOS 12 and will let people limit how much they use certain distracting apps, among other features. The FaceTime camera experience also includes filters, stickers, Animoji and Memoji as well, so everyone can take advantage of it. You can customize them by adding more functions to suit your need better, or make new ones from scratch completely.

But third-party "wellness" app makers are complaining that Apple's tight control over its ecosystem mean they can't offer their services.

Photos will be able to index over four million events and even search for multiple search terms.

We'll also see a new "For You" tab launch alongside these search enhancements.

The company is taking a swipe at ubiquitous "share" buttons created by Facebook and other platforms to track your behaviour online regardless of whether you click on them. Pressing on a notification, you can tune how often you'll get them in the future from the app that sent it. Notifications are now grouped by type, app or topic.
