He said heavy firing between the two sides continued for an hour during which Constable Devender Singh was hit by a stray bullet through the loophole of his picket.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit the troubled Jammu and Kashmir state on May 19.

In the backdrop of unprovoked ceasefire violation by Pakistan in which one BSF personnel attained martyrdom, Director General BSF K K Sharma, on Tuesday said that reportedly a group of five terrorists have "managed" to enter into the Indian territory via tunnel on global border in Jammu region. Despite the constable being immediately evacuated to a hospital, he did not survive.

The troops at the Manguchak border outpost noticed suspicious movement Monday night and fired illuminated bombs before firing from Light Machine Guns (LMGs) on the infiltrators who, however, managed to flee away, Sharma said. Five militants were seen through High Sensitive Thermal Imaging (HSTI).

India too has been looking to use hi-tech surveillance equipment to ensure Pakistani forces are unable to provide mortar-fire cover to terrorists attempting to sneak into India.

Five infiltrators sneaked into Hiranagar sector probably through a tunnel on Sunday night and efforts are on to detect and neutralise them, Sharma said. "The anti-tunneling exercise is going on", he said.

The Pakistan Army violated the ceasefire along the border there, according to PTI.
