Steven Gerrard confirms he's interested in taking over Rangers

STEVEN GERRARD is reportedly in talks to become the new manager of Rangers - but which Liverpool youngsters could he bring with him?

Gerrard is ambitious, but has sought assurance before making what would be a huge leap from Academy football as Liverpool U18 coach into the Scottish Premier League.

Gerrard, 37, is now managing the Liverpool U18s, but following the dismissal of Graeme Murty from the Glasgow club, talks have intensified between the former England global and the Scottish outfit.

Rangers are third in the Scottish Premiership table, three points adrift of Aberdeen with three matches of the season remaining.

With Steven Gerrard having recently agreed a deal to take over from the former Reading defender at the end of the 2017-18 campaign, however, Murty has been relieved of his duties early following Rangers' humiliating loss to their cross-town rivals.

Assistant coaches Jimmy Nicholl and Jonatan Johansson have been put in temporary charge for Saturday's home game with Kilmarnock.

"So anything he can do to progress and get them closer is going to be success for him". He has previously turned down managing MK Dons. It would take an bad lot of investment for Rangers to topple Celtic and Gerrard's old Liverpool manager Rodgers. They are not learning on the job as such.

And Wright believes a spell at Rangers would help him return to Merseyside in the future.

Former team-mate Murphy spoke to Gerrard over the weekend and believes he will want to know he has the cash to try and challenge the man who was once his boss at Anfield.
