One player is creating his own Cavaliers mutiny

  • Cleveland Cavaliers Rodney Hood drives past Toronto Raptors De Mar DeRozan during the first half of an NBA basketball game in Cleveland. A person familiar with the situation says the Cavaliers will not

"When the Cavs called a timeout with a 30-point lead and 7:38 left Monday, (Tyronn) Lue tried inserting Hood for (LeBron) James", writes The Athletic. During a timeout, several players surrounded Hood to encourage him to enter the game, but he refused.

The Cavaliers acquired Hood from the Utah Jazz at the trade deadline as part of their midseason roster makeover.

Cleveland Cavaliers guard Rodney Hood refused to enter the game in the fourth quarter during Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals, reports The Athletic.

Hood is a very good player but he's had a bad playoffs so far, averaging only 4.6 points on 39.6 percent shooting.

"Hood refused to go in, multiple sources confirmed".

While Cleveland has gotten by without Hood and coasted past the Raptors, if Hood can give them some kind of secondary playmaking and 3-point shooting, that would give them another dynamic they desperately need in a potential NBA Finals matchup against Houston or Golden State. Rodney Hood suspiciously registered zero minutes.

Cavs' Rodney Hood Angered His Teammates & Possibly Lost The Locker Room After His Game 4 Stunt

Hood has been struggling as of late and recently lost his starting spot in the lineup.

The Cavs will return to the court soon to face either the Sixers or, most likely, the Celtics in the Eastern Conference Finals.

Hood scored just 2 points on 1-of-9 shooting in three appearances against the Raptors.

According to Lloyd, Cavs general manager Koby Altman plans on meeting with Hood to hear his side of the story before making a decision on his future with the team moving forward. If the Cavaliers don't receive an acceptable reason for his refusal to play, there is a strong chance that Hood could earn a suspension.

Hood, who enters the summer as a restricted free agent, was considered a building block for the Cavaliers, but now that seems very much in doubt.
