  • President Trump compared a hospital in London to a military war zone hospital

"They say it's as bad as a military war zone hospital", Trump added.

As well as the response from Brohi outlining the problems with attempting to solve knife crime with guns, his colleague Dr Martin Griffiths, who said in an interview with BBC Radio 4 that some of his colleagues had compared treating stabbing victims to working in Camp Bastion in Afghanistan extended an invitation to Trump to visit The Royal London. "The statistics of firearm victims do not make us question France's choice in the matter".

Former French president Francois Hollande, who was ruling the country at the time of the Paris attacks, rejected Trump's remarks as "shameful" and "obscene" which "tell a lot about what he thinks about France and its values".

Former Prime Minister Manuel Valls tweeted, "Indecent and incompetent".

Trump said a civilian could have stopped the massacre at the Bataclan concert hall, where 90 of the 130 victims of the attack died, had they had a gun.

Boom!"But if one employee or just one patron had a gun, or if just one person in this room had been there with a gun, aimed at the opposite direction, the terrorists would have fled or been shot."In an attack claimed by the Islamic State group, jihadists rampaged across the French capital, initially firing on cafe-goers".

The French government wasted no time condemning Trump's speech at the National Rifle Association conference in which he declared the Bataclan atrocity would have been stopped earlier if Parisians had guns. Needless to say, his speech angered many. "They have knives, and instead there's blood all over the floors of this hospital".

He then mimicked someone using a knife.

Knife-related crimes rose by 23 percent in London last year and a spate of stabbings and shootings have left more than 50 people dead this year.

London suffered a spike in knife crime early this year and saw more murders during February and March than NY. "We are proud of the excellent trauma care we provide and of our violence reduction programs", he said in a statement reported by The Evening Standard.

A senior London surgeon, Prof Karim Brohi, hit back by saying it was "ridiculous" to suggest guns could help combat knife violence. They put out an official statement disapproving his statements on Saturday. The news source added that estimate does not include "firearms that enter and exit the country illegally, and guns that break down, or are lost or destroyed".

The gun safety is a cause of major concern in the United States, especially as the USA submitted its joint bid with Canada and Mexico to host Federation Internationale de Football Association 2026 World Cup.
